Take a tour of  Thorold Seniors Centre  and you will be impressed with the renovated facility in the old city hall in Thorold.  The wheelchair accessible facility offers members an array of activities from shuffleboard, snooker, Tai chi, monthly parties, cards, bingo, darts,  exercise and choir. Coffee is also available.  A fully loaded kitchen is built in for event organizers to use for banquets and cooking lunches, dinners or snacks.  This is much more than a recreational drop-in centre the group operated in their old building on Ormond Street.  There is a wow factor for anyone who ever walked through the corridors of the old city hall, or former L.G. Lorriman School in the original structure of this facility.

The Association is now set up with an office in the new Thorold Seniors Centre, which is  located in a fully accessible building on 8 Carleton St. S.   The facility is an impressive renovation of the old city hall building, which was open to the membership in September 2014.  The new facility is fully equipped with a computer centre including Internet access, and Brock University students will be providing members  computer training.    Members can also take advantage of a library and reading room, billiards, table tennis, shuffle board, piano, and much more.  Activities such as knitting, cribbage, euchre, bridge, and other recreation is listed on a schedule of events.  Events throughout the year cover a wide range of lifestyle interests such as a St. Patrick’s Dance, Mother’s Day Brunch, Bingo, Halloween Party Dance, movie nights, among other fun activities for seniors in Thorold.

The centre is open Monday to Friday  8 a.m. to 4 p.m.   The membership fee is $15 per year.  Membership is open to Associate Members 50-54 years of age, and Voting Members 55 years and older.

The organization was established in 1984, and it looks like the future is very bright for this community group in Thorold. General Meetings are held monthly on the first Tuesday of the month   Phone for more information 905-227-2161 or email thoroldseniorscentre@cogeco.net
